ESS Sunday Shakuhachi Brunch - online event #5

 The ESS Brunch is a mix of informal gathering and formal teaching open to all levels, but in particular we welcome all you shakuhachi beginners and elementary players. We encourage an atmosphere of sharing ideas between players of different levels. And often just listening can be a helpful experience too if you just started the shakuhachi and are not yet so familiar with it all.

At next weekend’s brunch we will have ro-buki, chakra meditation, and learn about daily warming-up routine and technical exercises, we also encourage participants performances, feedback, questions, Among all this there will also be time for the teaching of the piece Nyoi Chōshi, moving from the simple to the original version and working on phrasing and ornaments.

It is a free event but do register in time so we can send you the study materials beforehand.

World Shakuhachi Festival Texas 2025, April 17-20, 2025. "WSF 2025 is the eighth major international shakuhachi festival to be held since the original 1994 WSF convened in Bisei, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. It will feature a diverse range of music in concerts, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, masterclasses, and informal gatherings, in a diverse range of genres such as jazz, contemporary music, cross-cultural fusion, improvisation, video games, rock, and pop, among others."

I'll be performing and teaching at the WSF and representing the Hijirikai school.

Is de shakuhachi iets voor jou?

Maak kennis met dit bijzondere instrument in deze introductie cursus. Tijdens de cursus leer je de juiste houding om de basisnoten van de shakuhachi te spelen. Door gevarieerde oefeningen geef je aandacht en ruimte aan je ademhaling en bouw je de kracht van je spieren op. Je geest en lichaam werken muzikaal en spiritueel samen. Je maakt kennis met de Japanse muzieknotatie en je leert je eerste traditionele honkyoku spelen.

De cursus bestaat uit 5 privé-lessen van 45 minuten (€194,21 excl. BTW)  of 60 minuten (€256,20 excl. BTW)
